Victims Demand Justice

Victims of the mass killing of the Kauwaghari Dang incident have demanded justice saying that no action had been taken against the culprits though 12 years had passed following the incident. The then Royal Nepal Army had killed 12 locals including 11 of Kauwaghari in Goltakhuri-8, Dang on August 1, 2002, on the charges of being Maoists while they had gone to Rajkot jungle to collect firewood. Speaking at a program organized in Goltakuri at the 12th memorial assembly of the incident on August 2, the victims demanded justice immediately. The state still treats us as terrorists though my three unarmed sons were killed by them, Bijuli Nepal, 55, rues. The victims complained that the government, despite knowing that innocent people who had gone to collect firewood in the jungle to sustain their lives were killed, has not initiated any investigation. The government should provide free education and employment to the deceased's children, the victims demanded. 12 conflict victims including Lakshmi Nepali, Sushil Nepal, Sita Nepali, Bijuli Nepali were honored at the program. Locals Bhupal Nepali, Mangal Nepali, Ramesh Nepali 'A', Ramesh Nepali 'B', Jog Bahadur Nepali, Neb Bahadur Nepali, Ram Prasad Nepali, Ram Lal Nepali, Som Raj Nepali, Resham Nepali, Devi Ram Nepali, and Khadak Bahadur BK of Fulbari were killed in Rajkot jungle by Nepal Army.
