Tankisinuwari-based Birat Teaching Hospital has been vandalized in Morang district on Thursday. Irate kin of the patient who passed away in course of treatment vandalized the hospital saying that the hospital was brought into operation without basic infrastructures and the patient died due to negligence. In the vandalism, four window panes have been destroyed. The enraged kin has also halted transportation for a half-an-hour along the Koshi Highway protesting the death of the patient. A squad of security personnel from the Nepal Police and Armed Police Force has been deployed in the incident site to prevent further vandalism. Patient Saroj Khadka, 16, of Bakalauri-2, Sunsari died while undergoing an operation for his broken left shoulder at the hospital on Wednesday. The kin of the deceased and the locals are now demonstrating in the hospital premises alleging that the patient died due to doctor's negligence. The locals have called for the closure of the hospital accusing that the hospital does not have sufficient infrastructure. "The concerned authority should close down the hospital immediately as it does not have sufficient infrastructures," local Ram Bahadur Bista told Republica.
