UDMF cadres greet Dahal with black flags, 10 held

The cadres of the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) have greeted UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal with black flags in Birgunj on Friday. UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Dahal has arrived here in Birgunj to inaugurate a trade fair. The fair is beginning today. With the arrival of Dahal, the UDMF) cadres have taken to the streets, chanting slogans against him. The cadres are out in the protest saying that the Madhes movement was suppressed by the Home Minister Shakti Basnet who is from the UCPN (Maoist) party. The irate cadres led by Madhesi Youth Alliance, Parsa Coordinator Ishwarchanda Yadav have burnt tyres at Ghantaghar Chowk in protest of Dahal.

Meanwhile, police have arrested 10 demonstrators including Rajesh Man Singh, Munni Shreewastav, and Rekha Sah. The UDMF cadres lashed out at Dahal saying that he played a key role in the promulgation of the new constitution without incorporating the Madhesi demands.

Similarly, Former State Minister Karima Begam-led cadres also demonstrated against Dahal, burning tyres at Mudli Chowk. Dahal was scheduled to inaugurate the trade fair following his address to the UCPN (Maoist) cadres at Ranisati Dharmashala, Revolutionary Journalists Association Chairman Niraj Pithakothe told Republica Online.
