Police constable among 3 held on abduction charge

(Updated) Three persons including a police constable have been arrested on the charge of abducting and extorting Rs 4, 00,000 from a businessman, on Sunday. Acting on a tip-off, a special team deployed from the Parsa District Police Office nabbed constable Arbinda Singh and two others; namely, Deepak Singh of Bhiswa, Birgunj-18 and Bhagawan Singh of Ranighat, Birgunj-14. According to DSP Raju Babu Shrestha, local businessman Rajesh Sah Kanu was taken hostage by the alleged abductors. During the raid at Bhagawan Singh’s house, police had discovered Rs 472,000 cash, bank vouchers, cheque books, land registration certificate and other financial documents which amounted to Rs 2.4 million, said police.

Update........... The Parsa District Court has issued an order to remand four persons including two police – who were arrested for their alleged involvement in the kidnapping of a businessperson – to prison. The Court issued a directive to send police personnel duo Arbind Singh and Binaya Singh and Deepak Singh of Birgunj-18 and Bhagawan Singh of Birgunj-14 to Birgunj jail until another order. The four including two police personnel were arrested on the charge of abducting and taking ransom of Rs 400,000 from Rajesh Kumar Shah of Birgunj sub-metropolis-19. A single bench of Parsa district judge Rajendra Nepal on Thursday issued the order to remand the four alleged to jail. Police arrested and registered a case of abduction and hostage-taking against all four on March 26, said SP Raju Babu
