Federal Alliance continues to picket Singha Durbar

The Federal Alliance comprising Madhesi and ethnic groups has continued their Kathmandu-centric protests with the picketing of' Singha Durbar on Monday as well. Protestors from 29 Madhesi and Janjati parties have gathered in the Singh Durbar area, the center of the country's administration. Leaders from the alliance have held sit-ins at various places including Hanumansthan, Maitighar mandala, and Babrmahal around Singha Durbar. Tarai Madhes Democratic Party (TMDP), Sadbhawana Party and Tarai Madhes Sadbhawana Party leaders are holding a sit-in at Hanumansthan while Federal Socialist Forum Nepal and other ethnic parties are holding a sit-in at Maitighar Mandala. Citing security threats, the government has mobilized a large force of security personnel. Earlier this morning, the protesters held rallies with placards, banners, and flags that began from various locations in Kathmandu. Earlier, the agitating Madhesi forces had held six months of protests along different Nepal-India border points and participated in a protracted economic blockade against Nepal.
