Torture Victims demand justice

Torture Victims have urged the human rights activists to take initiative for justice on May 23, stating that they were tortured by the Police Constable. They requested the human rights activists after Promod Safi, 22, and Dinesh Safi, 32 of Sukhipur Municipality-06 was tortured by the Hansa Raj Mandal, a Police Constable of Base Camp, Silorwa Pachhawari on May 21. After their request, the human rights organizations, including INSEC, Human Rights Protection Center Network, WOREC, Overall Development Service Center, Mukti Nepal, and IHRICON had carried out the monitoring of the incident on May 23. The secretary of the Human Rights Protection Center Network, Ganga Adhikari informed: ‘it has acknowledged after the monitoring that the Police Constable had tortured the victims.’ Torturing is an anti-human rights works by those who should follow the rule of law, she added. She has asked to take legal action against the Police Constable and demanded fair compensation to the victims. According to the victims, they had filed a case in the Base Camp about a quarrel between two brothers in a domestic dispute matter on May 21. Meanwhile, the Police Constable, Mandal took them into a police room and tortured on their soles by using sticks. According to the Shyam Gyawali, Superintendent Police Officer of the District Police Office Siraha, the investigation process has been forwarded against the suspect Police Constable.
