Seven held for 'proselytising’ school kids

Seven people, including two school headmasters, have been arrested by Dolakha police on charge of “coercing children into joining Christian faith”. Prakash Pradhan, the headmaster of Mount Valley Boarding School, Bimal Shahi, the headmaster of Modern Nepal School, Banita Dangol, who is working for the Christian organisation Teach Nepal, Bal Krishna Rai, Philip Tamang, Kiran Dahal, and Bhim Bahadur Tamang were taken into custody on Thursday. Deputy Superintendent of Police Bel Bahadur Pandey said they are accused of distributing Christian literature to the school children with the intention of converting them into Christains. Police had raided the two schools following complaints from some parents. The Federation of National Christian, Nepal, has strongly condemned the arrest.
