One person arrested for gas black-marketing in Kaski

An LP gas retailer was arrested here on Sunday for selling cooking gas at an exorbitant price. The District Police Office, Kaski arrested Thamaraj Bhandari – the owner of Mahatgauda Suppliers – from Mahatgauda locality of Pokhara-17 for selling cooking gas at prices exceeding the regular market price.

Police made the arrest based on a special tip-off that Bhandari was selling cooking gas filled in Grihalaxmi Gas cylinders for Rs 4,200. Undercover policemen disguised as customers had approached Bhandari, who proposed to sell a gas cylinder for the same exorbitant price. The police also confiscated 26 cylinders filled with gas. The District Administration Office, Kaski extended Bhandari's custody on the same day for further investigation under the black marketeering and social offense cases, Police Spokesperson Gajur Siddhi Bajracharya said.
