Show Cause Order Issued In the Name Of Police

[Updated] The Appellate Court of Butwal has issued a show-cause order in the name of the District Police Office of Butwal regarding the incident at Gonaha VDC-6, in Bethari during the border cantered agitation called by Joint Madhesi Morcha. A single bench of appellate court judge Rameshwor Raj Bhandari has ordered on June 21 to present a written answer within 15 days. During the Madhesh centered agitation on 15 September 2015, six people including an infant were killed after police opened fire. The victim’s father of four years old Chandan Patel of Pokhariya Parsa had lodged a writ at Appellate Court of Butwal for the investigation of his son’s killing. The victim’s father had lodged a complaint at Appellate Court demanding justice by issuing an ordinance after the District Police Office of Rupendehi had denied registering his complaint. Amrit Giri

Update..... FIR not registered against police personnel responsible for shooting death of a four-year child A First Information Report (FIR) against police personnel responsible for the shooting death of Chandan Patel has not been registered. Although, Appellate Court, Butawal had issued a writ of mandamus telling the concerned authorities to register FIR against the persons responsible for shooting death of four-year-old child Chandan Patel. The victim’s father Abhdesh Kumar Kurmi had filed a writ of mandamus seeking the court’s order to lodge an FIR and the court issued the writ on August 17. Chandan Patel was among six victims who were killed on September 15 last year when police, in the course of chasing protesters after they pelted stones, fired indiscriminately on Bethari local market killing Chandan and five other victims. Chandan Patel was killed when he accompanied his mother who had gone to the market to buy things necessary for observing Teej Festival. The victim’s father went to District Police Office Rupandehi seeking registration of the FIR but the police did not accept his FIR. Hereafter he moved to the court. The victim’s father wants the police personnel responsible for shooting dead his son to be punished under the homicide chapter of Muluki Ain (General Code).
