The police have arrested 28-year-old Santosh Kumar Das and his father 60-year-old Ramukisun Das alias Gajur on June 28 on the charge of beating 22-year-old Rubi Devi Das of Rajbiraj Municipality-5. The accused had beaten the victim demanding extra dowry from her. Santosh Kumar Das is the victim’s husband. The victim was severely beaten by her husband including other family members.

They further attempted to hang her in ceiling fan. She was expelled from the house after the neighbour knew about the incident. The victim is undergoing medical treatment at Zonal hospital in Rajbiraj. The victim has lodged a complaint against her husband, father-in-law, mother-in-law and brother-in-law on June 27. According to DSP Dan Bahadur Rai, Santosh Kumar and Ramkisun have been arrested by the police for further investigation on June 28.
