The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority on Monday filed a corruption case at the Special Court against Hemanta Lal Karna, who served as the Secretary of Harpur VDC of Parsa district. He is accused of misappropriation and embezzlement of budget allocated for Harpur VDC for the fiscal year of 065/067. He allegedly forged vouchers and bills to embezzle Rs 1.4175 million from the state coffers. The CIAA has sought maximum punishment against Karna as per the Section 17 of Prevention of Corruption Act 2002.
