The District Court of Ilam has ordered to sentence Purna Singh Rai,53 of Ektappa VDC-9, and Tej Kumari Thebe,48 of Lumde VDC-4 for one year each along with Rs 5,000 compensation on the charge of polygamy. A single bench of District Court judge Nawa Raj Dahal has given a verdict on a case on July 12. Purna Sing’s first wife Manamaya Rai had lodged a complaint against both accused on February 15, 2016, at the District Police Office accusing them of marrying on January 24, 2016. The accused Tej Kumari is remanded in custody after her arrest on March 3 however Purna Singh is still at large according to the police.
