Locals padlocked Kawaswoti municipality office on Monday around 11:00 am in a protest to drastically increase property tax implemented from the new fiscal year. Locals have locked the office of the municipality at 11 am on Monday saying that the amount of consolidated property tax on August 20 was very high. Former chairman Bishwaraj Bagale said that they locked up the property tax (house and land tax and recommendation fee) imposed by the municipality as it is too high. He said that the tax of Rs. 150 last year was collected this time after receiving information that Rs. 3400 was collected from the service recipients. He said that the tax should be increased but they were protesting against the tax being levied on the common man. The service recipients were in trouble after the Kawaswoti Municipality was locked up and had to return empty-handed with their work pending.
