The District Court of Dailekh ordered to sentence 34-year-old Tel Bahadur Damai of Neulapur VDC-6 and 27-year-old Laxmi Damai of Manma VDC-5 to jail for two years each on July 31 on the charges of polygamy. The court has further ordered to penalize Rs 10,000 to the accused.
A single bench of District Court judge Prakash Prasad Pandit issued a verdict on the case. A complaint against the accused was lodged at the police office of Dailekh by Tel Bahadur’s first 34-year-old wife Pushpa Damai on April 11.
The District Police Office of Dailekh had registered a complaint at District Court through the office of attorney on May 5.
Along with the accused, a four months old infant has been taken to the prison as well. According to the jailer Jit Bahadur Thapa, an infant under two years must be accompanied by his/her mother.
