Earthquake victims padlock VDC office

2016-08-16

Bagmati, Sindhuli, Hariharpurgadhi

Sindhuli's Mahendrajhadi VDC's local people have padlocked the VDC office after hearing that earthquake victim who does not have land registration documents can't sign the grant agreement. The lock was dismantled by the Mahendrajhadi's police but the locals again padlocked the office indefinitely. Locals have demanded that they would open the padlock only if the Chairman of District Disaster Committee, District Officer, leaders of political parties, and other stakeholders give them the commitment of giving the relief grant to all earthquake victims including those who do not have the registration document. However, the CDO of the district stated that it's not only the problem of Mahendrajhadi but the entire country. Until now no decisions have been made by the National Reconstruction Authority.
