The District Court of Ilam has ordered to sentence Sanjaya Kumar Rai,32 of Ibhang VDC-1 for one year on the charge of polygamy. He was also penalised of Rs 5,000. The accused was remanded in custody since April 7. A single bench of District Court judge Nawa Raj Dahal has given a verdict on August 22 regarding the case. A complaint against him was lodged by his first wife Sushma Rai,28 on April 7 for marrying Neeru Rai,31 of Ibhang VDC on March 16. The court has acquitted Neeru Rai.
