Social mobilizer Amrit Khatri of Khawang VDC-6, Pyuthan today reached the Area Police Office, Bahane seeking security. Khatri said that Khawang VDC-6’s Ward Civil Forum Coordinator Udbir Budha had thrashed him at a meeting on Friday when he was not given the allowance allocated by the DDC for the management of Ward Civil Forum. Khatri has registered a case against the perpetrator at the area police officers and sought police security for him. The DDC has been providing Rs 6,000 to each ward of all VDCs under the Local Governance and Community Development Programme for the management of Ward Civil Forum. Budha had been staking claim to the same allowance. The DDC and the VDC, however, had directed him to use the allowance for administrative works and informed him that it was not meant for Budha’s personal use. Coordinator Budha claimed that the allowance amount had gone unspent. “Social mobilizers pocket the allowance and misuse it,” Budha accused. Meanwhile, staffers at the Khawang VDC have requested the police to provide security, saying that the thrashing of the social mobilizer had created a climate of insecurity and fear in the office .
