Senior Orthopedic surgeon at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital Prof Dr Govinda KC has begun his ninth hunger strike from Monday. He has already staged eight hunger strikes in the past demanding reforms in medical education sector. Organising a press meet at TUTH, Maharajgunj in the Capital on Monday, Dr KC announced yet another round of fast-unto-death at 4 pm today, saying government missed the ultimatum given by him to address his demands. Dr KC has placed four-point demand this time including three of his demands from the past. His demands include endorsement of medical education bill from the ongoing session of parliament, impeachment of CIAA chief Lokman Singh Karki and member Raj Narayan Pathak, implement medical education fee as suggested by Mathema Commission and scrap a committee comprising representatives of private medical college. चिकित्सा शिक्षा सुधारको माग गर्दै पटक पटक अनसन बसेका त्रिवि शिक्षण अस्पतालका प्रा.डा. गोविन्द केसीले नवौंपटक अनसन सुरु गरेका छन् । सरकारलाई दिएको अल्टिमेटममा पनि माग पूरा नभएको भन्दै केसीले सोमबार शिक्षण अस्पताल महाराजगञ्जमा पत्रकार सम्मेलन गर्दै अनसनको घोषणा गरेका हुन् । डा. केसीले दिउँसो ४ बजेदेखि अनसन सुरु गरेका हुन् । केसीले कार्यान्वयन हुन बाँकी तीनवटा मागमासमेत स्मरण गराउँदै चार बुँदे माग अघि सारेका छन् । उनले चिकित्सा शिक्षा ऐन संसदको जारी अधिवेशनबाटै पारित गर्न, अख्तियार प्रमुख लोकमानसिंह कार्की र सदस्य राजनारायण पाठकविरुद्ध महाअभियोग लगाउन, माथेमा आयोगको सिफारिस बमोजिम मेडिकल शिक्षा शुल्क लागू गर्न, निजी मेडिकल कलेजका प्रतिनिधिसमेत सम्मिलित समिति खारेज गर्न माग गरेका छन् ।
