CPN (Maoist Centre) lawmaker Mahendra Bahadur Shahi, the proposer of the impeachment motion, has spoken of threats from Lokman Singh Karki’s aides. Shahi, however, said that as a cadre of the party that waged a revolt against the state, he would not be deterred by the threats in moving ahead with the motion. He said his party had joined hands with the CPN-UML to register the motion realising the urgency of the matter. “Had we waited for the Nepali Congress, it was likely that the motion would never have been registered,” Shahi told media persons on Sunday. Pointing to the NC’s dilemma in the motion, Shahi claimed that the largest party would ultimately have to vote for Karki’s ouster as public opinion hardens against the suspended CIAA chief. (PR)
