Locals of five VDCs in the southern part of Panchthar district staged a demonstration today saying they would not be a part of the proposed municipality at the district headquarters Phidim. The locals took to the street against the recommendation sent to the State Restructuring Commission by the Local Body Restructuring Technical Committee and local political parties. The proposal has recommended merging Aangsarang, Imbung, Pauwasartap, Chilingdin and Fakten VDCs in Falgunand Municipality with Yasok as its center. Cadres of the NC, UML and CPN-Maoist Center also participated in the rally. The Struggle Committee Coordinator Surendraraj Aangdembe said they were forced to hit the streets as the technical committee and district leaders had made the recommendation with vested interests bypassing the people's wishes.
