2016-12-01

Bagmati, Kathmandu, Kathmandu

A huge demonstration has been staged in support of Dr Govinda KC at New Baneshwar in the capital on Thursday. Organized by Bibeksheel Nepali Party, resident doctors at TU Teaching Hospital (TUTH), students and general people took part in the protest program. Speaking at the program, Kanak Mani Dixit, a journalist and civil society activist, urged the government to address the demands at the earliest, warning that it could constitute a murder - not minor death - on the part of the government in case he died in the course of his hunger strike. Meanwhile, the editors of different media houses have visited TUTH to see the conditon of Dr KC. Dr. Govinda KC, a senior orthopedic surgeon at TUTH, has been staging his fast-onto-death for the last 18 days, demanding overhaul in the medical sector. This is his 10th hunger strike.
