At a time when the movement against violence asainst women hs been launched across the country,a political party's leader thrashed his daughter in law black and blue in Rajbiraj, Saptari, yesterday. The incident came to light after Romita Simraha,25, of Singiyoun Simraha VDC was beaten black and blue by her father in law Ramprit Yadav, the district chairman of Tarai Madhes Democratic Party and she was admitted in the hospital. The victim is receiving treatment in Rajbiraj-based Gajendra Narayan Singh Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital." I was beaten twice before," Romanita said. She said that she was taken to the hospital by her younger brother Naresh Yadav of Rajbiraj. It is said that Romanita's husband had gone to Malaysia for foreign employment two years ago. The family members hae tortured me physically and mentally time again in the absence of my husband. she said that her father-in-law and brother-in-law Laxman had hit her on the head and she was admitted in the hospital. This is the third time that my family members have attacked me she said in tears. Health workers said that Romita has received deep cuts on her head. They sadi that the wound was stitched. Romita brother Naresh had demanded the security for the victim as she has faced many attacks time and again. He demanded severe action against the culprit. TM
