Kailali remained shut today to protest an alleged mass slaughter of cows here recently. The shutdown has been called by various Hindu organizations demanding a prompt investigation into the incident and action against the guilty. Many cows were found dead in the vicinity of Bhayagute along Dhangadhi-Dadeldhura road five days ago, the local people said. The dead cows were buried later. It has been said that some stray cows and oxen were transported on a truck and dumped at an area of Bedkot Municipality of Kanchanpur.
