40-year-old Mahapati Dhanuk was murdered on October 20. Her body was found in sugarcane field on the same day. Police arrested Nandu Dhanu Mahato on November 13 for investigation on the murder. The family of the victim and women of that place staged a sit-in at District Police Office on December 11. The husband of the victim, Jagdishwor Dhanu Mahato has submitted a written complaint to the police against the accused, Nandu Dhanu Mahato but no case has been filed against the accused. The victims family are accusing police for trying to protect Nandu Dhanu Mahato under political pressure whereas police says they will move on with the legal procedure as soon as the investigation completes.
