The Birgunj city remained tense on Saturday as well after police failed to find whereabouts of a newborn boy who had been missing from the Narayani Sub-Regional Hospital since Friday. Kin of the child staged a protest in front of the hospital today demanding that police investigate the case and book the culprits. The law enforcers, meanwhile, detained around 20 persons in connection to the case on Friday night. All of them were the hospital staff. Chakraraj Joshi, the spokesperson at the Parsa District Police Office, said 13 persons were detained; but all of them were released after the preliminary investigation found that they were not involved in the suspicious act. Earlier, it was reported that the son of Aasha Devi Paswan and Mukesh Paswan from Chhapkaiya of Birgunj-2, was taken away by a stranger around four hours after the birth. The family had also suspected the involvement of hospital staff in the incident.
