The resident of Myanglung in Tehrathum district have started a protest, claiming that the ongoing Mid-hill Highway Project could leave around 200 families without homes. They have demanded the authorities to re-route the highway. The task of opening track for the highway, which began from Panchthar Chiyobhangyang has now reached close to Myanglung. However, people in the village are not happy with this development. They have demanded that the plan to open a one kilometre track through Myanglang Buspark to Jirikhimti and onwards to Halimela Road must be changed. Lal Bahadur Khatri, coordinator of a struggle committee formed to protest the highway plan, said they have long been demanding the concerned authorities to re-route the track so as not to affect the private properties. If the track were to be opened as planned, he said hundreds of families will be homeless, which the authorities have not considered. Local Udayraj Limbu said that they will have no properties left if the highway is constructed as planned. The disgruntled people has accused government of trying to take over their properties without their consent. मध्यपहाडी लोकमार्गले पुर्ख्यौली थातथलो सडक रेखांकनभित्र पारेर आफूहरुलाई सुकुम्बासी बनाउन लागेको भन्दै तेह्रथुमको म्याङलुङका बासिन्दाले बिहीबारबाट आन्दोलन सुरु गरेका छन् । म्याङलुङका बासिन्दाले मध्यपहाडी लोकमार्ग पीडित सरोकार समिति नै गठन गरेर लोकमार्ग अन्यत्रै बाट लानु पर्ने माग गर्दै आन्दोलन सुरु गरेका हुन् । पाँचथरको चियोभन्ज्याङबाट सुरु लोकमार्ग म्याङलुङनजिक आइपुगेपछि आसपासका बासिन्दाले लोकमार्ग अन्यत्रबाट तर्काएर लानु पर्ने माग गरेका छन् । मध्यपहाडी आयोजनाले रेखांकनभित्र पारेको जमिनमा लोकमार्ग विस्तार गर्दा हलीमेलादेखि म्याङलुङसम्मका करिब २ सय घरपरिवार विस्थापित हुने मध्यपहाडी लोकमार्ग पीडित सरोकार समिति संयोजक लालबहादुर खत्रीले बताए । समितिले म्याङलुङमा बिहीबार पत्रकार सम्मेलन गरी लोकमार्गलाई अन्यत्रबाट तर्काएर लानुपर्ने माग गरेको छ । आयोजनाले लोकमार्गको केन्द्र भागबाट दायाँबायाँ २५/२५ मिटर रेखांकनभित्र पारेको पीडितले बताएका छन् ।
