Tempo drivers block Miteri Bridge

2017-02-15

Madhes, Rautahat, Gaur

The Miteri Bridge, which links Rautahat’s Gaur with India’s Barganiya, was blocked for an hour by the tempo drivers, who have been operating their vehicles between the two border towns. They were protesting because Gaur Buspark recently moved away from the border area to the inner town where they are not allowed to operate their vehicles with Indian licence plates. They have demanded that they should be allowed to operate their three-wheelers up to Kabir Chowk, saying that they have lost their passengers after the buspark was relocated. The tempo drivers have warned of blocking the border indefinitely if their demand is not heard. (PR)
