A 13-year-old girl adopted by a couple from Punyamarga in Dharan-16 has died mysteriously on Monday. The deceased has been identified as 13-year-old Anusha Rai, adopted daughter of Baliman Rai and Padam Kumari Rai. The couple claimed that the girl had committed suicide by consuming insecticide. Enraged locals are however, not ready to believe the couple's claim, they have vandalized the couple's house, accusing them of poisoning the girl to death after subjecting her to continuous sexual abuse. Ony three people, the deceased girl and the couple used to live in the house. The couple's two sons are believed to live separately. Purnakala Limbu, joint coordinator of the Ward Citizen Forum, said the couple had initially tried to hide the incident. “Police should carry out a fair and thorough investigation,” said Limbu. The girl died on Monday while undergoing treatment at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, said police. They are further investigating the case. धर्मपुत्रीका रूपमा पालिएकी एक किशोरीको सोमबार शंकास्पद मृत्यु भएको छ । धरान–१६ पुण्यमार्गमा बस्दै आएका बलिमान राई उनकी श्रीमती पदमकुमारीले १० वर्ष अघि धर्मपुत्री बनाएकी अनुषा राईको मृत्यु भएको हो । किशोरीले घरमा राखेको धानमा लाग्ने किरा मार्ने विषादी खाएर मृत्यु भएको राई दम्पतीले बताएका छन् । १३ वर्षीया ती किशोरी सियोन स्कुलमा कक्षा ३ मा पढ्दै थिइन् । छिमेकीका अनुसार किशोरीलाई दैनिक यातना दिने गरिएको थियो । घरमा राई दम्पती र किशोरी मात्र बस्दै आएका थिए । राईका दुई छोरा भए पनि घरबाहिर बस्दै आएका छन् । किशोरीको मृत्यु शंकास्पद भएको भन्दै आक्रोशित स्थानीयले राई दम्पतीको घर तोडफोड गरेका छन् । धरान–१६ का नागरिक वडामञ्चका संयोजक उर्मिला प्रधानका अनुसार किशोरीले विष सेवन गरेपछि अस्पताल पुर्‍याएको समय चिकित्सक र राई दम्पतीबीच बाझिएको छ । बाल अधिकार संरक्षण समिति धरानकी कोषाध्यक्ष पूर्णकला लिम्बूले भनिन्, ‘१३ वर्षकी किशोरीको शरीरिक अवस्था हेर्दा शंकास्पद देखिएको छ । राई दम्पती मिलेर जबर्जस्ती विष खुवाएर हत्या गरेको हुन सक्ने भएकाले निष्पक्ष छानबिन हुनुपर्छ ।’
