Bandana Kumal, 6 of Bokso VDC-7 with a mental disability has been fastened with a rope for past 1.5 years. She is fastened by two long pieces of clothes. She runs within the frame she has been tied up which has become her daily routine. ‘She keeps staring at new people and has the habit of eating whoever gives something to eat. The family will be in trouble once the rope is unfastened.’- family said. According to Dhana Kumari, grandmother of a girl, the girl was not mentally disabled by birth and a regular child but she turned to be so after the devastating earthquake of April 25, 2015. The home had fallen down while the girl was hanged on to triple for a long time which disturbed her mentally. ‘She used to go to school and talk normally. She used to come back home from school and study what had been taught in the school. She lost her voice after a devastating earthquake which was beginning of bad days in Kumal’s family. She cannot express her feeling like hunger and thirst.’-said Dhana Kumari The family members are tensed due to the situation of a girl. She does not remember anyone and walks on her own. She would trouble them by moving hither and thither and disappearing out of sight in no time according to girl’s mother Kamala Kumal. The financial constraints of the family have barred them to provide her medical treatment which is why they often visit the temple in a belief to see her recover. They said they cannot afford a penny anymore for her treatment since they have loans to pay back.
