2017-04-04

Madhes, Rautahat, Garuda

Students of Garuda Higher Secondary School today brought vehicular movement to a grinding halt for two hours demanding that their scheduled final examinations be conducted by the National Examination Board at a convenient place in Rautahat. Students of grade XI and XII were demonstrating after the examination board made public the examination schedule of the final test. Students from Gaur and Chandrapur areas also joined the protest. The National Examination Board had scheduled Janajyoti Secondary School as the examination centre for Garuda Higher Secondary School, while the exam centre of Janajyoti is said to be 20 km away in Jingadiya based Nepal Police School. Guardians complained that the concerned authority had deliberately fixed the exam centres of some schools at inconvenient places. Till yesterday, they were demonstrating for one hour a day, obstructing vehicular movement, but they extended the time for demonstration to two hours from today. A guardians’ team led by Chunchun Prasad Sah, chairperson of Garuda Higher Secondary School, met with CDO Uddhav Bahadur Thapa and District Education Officer Ram Binaya Prasad Singh and urged them to make necessary corrections within 48 hours. Meanwhile, students warned the authority that they would continue their agitation if the examination centres were not moved to convenient places.
