Police arrested two persons for assembling guns at home from Besisahar Municipality in Lamjung yesterday night. DSP Samir Chandra Kharel at the District Police Office, Lamjung, informed that a police team deployed for election security had arrested the youths red-handed while they were assembling guns last night. The police team arrested Manoj BK, 24, and Pradip BK, 19, of Bhimda Bhirkateri of the municipality. DSP Kharel informed that the police team had seized an assembled gun and another in the process of being put together.

Police, through primary investigation, said that the two men were skillfully assembling the guns. A case has been filed against the arrested. Locals of the region were terrified after news of the incident came to light with the elections coming up. DSP Kharel said that the police team would carry out a massive search operation in the municipality and its surroundings. Locals submitted 64 legal weapons at the District Police Office after the District Administration Office issued a notice to the public to hand over any weapons in their possession temporarily until the local level elections were over. DSP Kharel said that according to the data at their office, there are over 1,000 handmade guns in public possession in the district. He further informed that stern action would be taken against those who had not submitted their weapons.
