eKantipur: Woman horrifically attacked by hubby | श्रीमतीको अनुहारमा तातो तेल खन्याएर श्रीमान् फरार । A woman has suffered serious burn injuries in her face after her husband poured boiling oil on her in an appalling domestic violence incident in Dolakha. Thirty-four-year old Urmila Tamang of Baityashwor Village Council, who is admitted to the TU Teaching Hospital in the Capital, was attacked by her husband, Kumar Tamang, on Tuesday evening. She was cooking dinner for the family when Kumar picked the hot pan from the burning stove and spilled the hot oil over her head. “I ran outside with my face burning and he chased me shouting that he would burn me alive,” Urmila said from the hospital bed. She was rescued by her brother-in-law and rushed to the local health facility at Mainapokhari, where health officials offered her primary care and was referred to Kathmandu. Urmila has sustained burn injuries in her face, eyes, arms and in her back. She said her husband used to get drunk and beat her in the past. “He would just pick up an issue to start the fight,” she said. Urmila’s brother, Amit, said his family was aware about these fights but did not make much of it. They thought the couple with three children would mutually sort out their marital tension. “She used to call home and complain that Kumar hit him again,” he said. “I want him caught by police and punished for what he has done.” Kumar, who is on the run after the incident, is wanted by police. He had not been caught as of Thursday. According to a 2016 report by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Nepal ranks third in South Asia when it comes to the incidents of domestic violence.
