5 hurt in clash after youth’s murder

A clash between locals and police at Palpa’s Rampur over the murder of a young man left at least five people injured. Om Bahadur Khand, 28, was found fatally wounded in his apartment on Saturday night. He died on the way to hospital. Locals on Sunday encircled the Rampur Area Police Office, demanding investigation into the incident. Tension flared up when some locals hurled stones at the police office and torched a parked motorcycle. Marketplaces remained closed throughout the day as a result of the clash. Transport service was also disrupted. Deputy Superintendent of Police Ramesh Pandit urged the people to remain calm and restraint in the wake of the clash. He added that police has initiated an investigation into Khand’s murder by taking one suspect into custody.
