Bhimdutta Municipality of Kanchanpur district remained tensed throughout the day on Friday after a 13-year-old school boy was found dead on the bank of a local stream in Haldukhal. Tilak Chand, an eighth grader at the Janasewa Secondary School, had gone missing from the school on Sunday. The body was recovered on Wednesday. Tension aroused after the irate kin of deceased blazed the house and shed of suspect Asish Adhikari. Locals obstructed fire engines from dousing the fire which resulted in altercation between locals and police. The enraged locals even pelted stones at the security personnel. Police opened blank fire in the air and resorted to tear gas shells to contain the situation, said SP Prakash Chand of the District Police Office, Kanchanpur. It has been learnt that the police issued prohibitory order in Haldukhal area after the situation went from bad to worse. “We have issued prohibitory order from 12pm to 8pm today,” said SP Chand, “The situation has come under control thereafter.” Meanwhile, relatives of the deceased have demanded talks with school principal and ward chair saying the school’s negligence led to the death of Chand. Police have rounded up Chand’s classmate and Ashish Adhikari for investigation. Preliminary investigation revealed that Chand was killed by Adhikari for the latter's golden earring. The earring was later recovered from Ashish’s possession. “Investigation is going on by taking all the accused under control,” SP Chand said, adding, “But, the kith and kin of the deceased are creating unnecessary tension by putting forth various demands.” Earlier on August 24, an Armed Police Force (APF) Constable Narendra Kunwar was murdered by his colleague Bhan Bahadur Bista in Bhimdutta Municipality-6 of Kanchanpur district. Police said that Kunwar was murdered for his gold chain. Police have arrested 4 people on allegations of murdering 13-year-old Tilak Chand at Kanchanpur. Thus arrested have been identified as Ashish Adhikari, Ramesh Khadka,Vishal Chand and Prakash Thapa.
