Health services at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) have been affected as junior resident doctors have halted their works, protesting the attack on medical staff on Sunday night. The protesting doctors began their strike on Monday demanding legal action against the attackers. According to Dr Roshan Parajuli, the relatives of Dambar Bahadur Baraili, who was wheeled in to the critical care unit after suffering a heart attack, had stormed the unit at around 10:30 pm and manhandled Dr Pradeep Mandal, Dr Ajit Jha and some staff nurses, accusing the medical staff of not taking proper care of their patient. Some medical instruments, windows and a door of the CCU were also broken in the incident, Dr Parajuli added. The doctors and nurses working in the CCU had immediately halted their works after the attack. Baraili, 72, died a few hours after the incident. His relatives initially refused to receive his body, claiming that his death was caused due to medical negligence. But they finally agreed take the body home after the BPKIHS management exempted all treatment expenses and offered to provide free of cost treatment to Baraili’s family members in the future. बीपी कोइराला स्वास्थ्य विज्ञान प्रतिष्ठानका आवासीय चिकित्सकले सोमबार बिहानदेखि ओपीडी र वार्ड बहिष्कार गरेका छन् । उनीहरूले बिरामी उपचार गरिरहेका चिकित्सकमाथि हातपात र दुव्र्यवहार गर्नेलाई कारबाही नगरेसम्म काममा नफर्कने बताए । आइतबार राति साढे १० बजे चिकित्सक र नर्समाथि हातपात र दुव्र्यवहार भएको थियो । त्यसपछि ओपीडी र वार्ड बहिष्कार गरेका हुन् । अस्पतालका अनुसार बराह नगरपालिका–२ पुनर्वासका ७२ वर्षीय डम्बरबहादुर बराइलीलाई ह्दयाघात भएपछि आफन्तले उपचारका लागि भर्ना गरेका थिए । जुनियर रेजिडेन्ट वेल्फेयर सोसाइटीका सचिव रोशन पराजुलीले बराइलीको उपचारमा लापरबाही भएको भन्दै सघन उपचार कक्षभित्रै प्रवेश गरेर केही युवाहरूले मेडिसिन विभागका डा. प्रदीप मण्डल, एनेस्थेसिया विभागका डा. अजित झा र नर्समाथि हातपात गरेको बताए । उनीहरूले सघन उपचार कक्षका ढोका, केही उपकरण र झ्यालसमेत तोडफोड गरेका छन् । उपचार गर्दागर्दै सघन उपचार कक्षभित्र झडप भएपछि त्रसित हुँदै उपचारमा संलग्न चिकित्सक र नर्स बाहिरिएपछि ह्दयाघात पीडित बराइलीको राति साढे ११ बजे मृत्यु भएको थियो । मृतकका आफन्तले चिकित्सकको लापरबाहीले बराइलीको मृत्यु भएको आरोप लगाएर शव जिम्मा लिन नमानेपछि सोमबार १२ बजेसम्म शव सघन उपचार कक्षमै थियो । अस्पताल व्यवस्थापन र मृतकका आफन्तबीचको वार्तामा औषधि उपचार र आईसीयूमा राखेको शुल्कमा छुट र परिवारका अन्य सदस्य बिरामी भए थप छुट दिने सहमतिपछि शव जिम्मा लिइएको छ । सोसाइटीका सचिव डा. पराजुलीले चिकित्सकको लापरबाही भएमा न्यायिक छानबिन गर्ने अधिकार सबैसँग भएको बताए ।
