Three people were injured when cadres of Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN (Maoist Centre) clashed at Bhimsen Rural Municipality-5 of Gorkha on Sunday.
Tensions flew high between the supporters of the two parties after a meeting of the village council that was organised to change the name and centre of the rural municipality.
NC's Sabin Baniya, CPN (MC)'s Sujan Shrestha and Suman Shrestha after being attacked with sharp weapons. They have received serious injuries to their head and have been taken to district headquarters for further medical treatment.
The village council meeting had decided to rename the rural municipality as Bhimsen Thapa Rural Municipality but dispute arose when NC proposed to shift the current centre, Baguwa, of the rural municipality to Ghyampeshal which was then opposed by the CPN (MC) cadres.
"One CPN (MC) supporter tore the meeting minute after two third majority of the village council meeting supported to shift the centre of the rural municipality," said Bhimsen Rural Municipality Chairman Ishwor Pandey, "Then some youths wielding khukuri and spear attacked us."
Meanwhile, CPN (MC) leader Lok Prasad Banjara said that the scuffle took place as the council unilaterally decided to shift the centre behind closed doors. "Our friends were not allowed to write a note of dissent which led to the scuffle," said Banjara adding, "When we went to bring our people from the closed doors youths associated with the NC attacked us."
A team of police have left for the incident site, said DSP Bhesraj Rijal adding that search is underway for the attackers.

कांग्रेस, माओवादी विवादका कारण युवाहरुबीच खुकुरी हानाहान भएको हो । दुई पक्ष बीचको झडपमा कांग्रेसका स्थानीय सबिन बानिँया, माओवादीका सुजन श्रेष्ठ र सुमन श्रेष्ठ गरी तीन घाइते भएका छन् । घाइतेहरुको टाउकोमा गम्भीर चोट लागेको छ । उनीहरुलाई उपचारका लागि सदरमुकाम ल्याइएको छ । गाउँसभाको बैठक सकिसकेपछि विवाद भएको हो । सभाले भिमसेन गाउँपालिकाको नाम भिमसेन थापा गाउँपालिका राख्ने निर्णय गरेको छ ।
बगुवा रहेको केन्द्र वडा नम्बर १ को घ्याम्पेशाल सार्ने विषयमा चाँहि विवाद भएको हो । कांग्रेस केन्द्र घ्याम्पेशाल सार्ने र माओवादी बगुवामा नै राख्नु पर्ने पक्षमा थिए । ‘बैठकमा दुई तिहाई बहुमतले केन्द्र सार्ने निर्णय गरिसकेपछि माओवादीका एक सदस्यले माइनुट च्यात्नु भयो’, गाउँपालिकाका प्रमुख ईश्वर पाण्डेले भने, ‘त्यसपछि आक्रमण सुरु भयो ।’ गाउँपालिकामा प्रमुख, उपप्रमुखसहित सदस्यमा कांग्रेसको बहुमत छ । खुकुरी भालासहितका हतियार बोकेका युवाले आक्रमण गरेको पाण्डेले बताए ।
माओवादी केन्द्रका नेता लोकप्रसाद बञ्जराले ढोका थुनेर जबर्जस्ती गाउँपालिकाका केन्द्र सार्न खोज्दा झडप भएको बताए । ‘हाम्रा साथीहरुलाई नोटअफ डिसेन्ट लेख्न दिइएन, अनि झडपको रुपमा लियो’, उनले भने, ‘गाउँपालिकाको कार्यालयमा थुनेर राखिएका सदस्यहरुलाई लिन जाँदा कांग्रेसका युवाहरुले आक्रमण गरे ।’
झडप भएर युवाहरु घाइते भएपछि सदरमुकामबाट घटनास्थल तर्फ परिचालन गरिएको छ । आक्रमणकारीहरुको खोजी भइरहेको प्रहरी नायव उपरीक्षक भेषराज रिजालले बताए । घ्याम्पेशाल आसपासको क्षेत्रमा यसअघि पनि निर्वाचनका समयमा झडप हुने गरेको थियो ।
