In the run-up to the parliamentary and provincial elections, police have arrested two persons in possession of homemade weapons in Rolpa on Wednesday. They were arrested from a Kathmandu bound bus (Ba 4 Kha 2608).
The detainees have been identified as Shyam Bahadur Gharti Magar, 33, and Ram Singh Gharti Magar, 29 of Madi Rural Municipality-3.
Police said that the duo was nabbed from Satdobato of Rolpa Municipality-3.
According to Inspector Sudarshan Panthi of the District Police Office, Rolpa, Shyam Bahadur was arrested in possession of a 15-inch long homemade pistol.
According to a source, police on the same day had arrested two leaders of Netra Bikram Chand-led CPN Maoist Dayal Bahadur Khatri (Jagriti) and Santosh Subedi (Prayas) on the charge of indulging in anti-election activities.
Police said that Shyam Bahadur and Ram Singh had a conversation with CPN Maoist leader before getting arrested.
Police suspect that the duo might have been affiliated with CPN Maoist.
The Local administration has been preparing to file a case under the Arms and Ammunitions Act.
