Sit-in at PM’s residence demanding Dhankuta as provincial capital

A sit-in protest was staged in front of the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar today morning demanding that Dhankuta be declared the capital of Province-1. The protesters including provincial members, civil society leaders, and businesspersons from Dhankuta staged demonstrations, which started at 9:00 am and ended at 10:30 am. Surendra Paudel, CPN-UML Secretary of the district said that Dhankuta is convenient and eligible from geographical as well as infrastructural angle to acquire the status of provincial capital. Protests have been going on in the district itself demanding for the same.
