Assistant sub-inspector Prem Thatal stationed at Nawamidanda Police Post in Panchthar was arrested today on the charge of raping and impregnating a 14-year-old girl. A team from District Police Office, Panchthar, arrested ASI Thatal after it came to light that he had raped and impregnated a teenage girl. The victim’s father claimed that the ASI had raped his daughter the first time three months ago and given her Rs 500. After that, he raped her repeatedly, he claimed. When the victim’s mother called the ASI at home and inquired about the incident, ASI handed a Rs 1000 note and said that he would take the girl to the headquarters for treatment. According to the victim’s father, ASI brought him and the victim girl to the Bus Park on his motorbike and kept them at a hotel in Phidim on Monday night. Thatal had reached the district hospital with the victim’s father and the girl for abortion at 10:00am today. Deputy Superintendent of Police Bamdev Gautam said the District Police Office had learnt about the ASI’s crime from the villagers. “Plainclothes policemen took the ASI under control before victim girl was taken to the abortion room,” DSP Gautam said. The ASI is in police detention while girl is kept under doctors’ observation. DSP Gautam pledged to punish the guilty ASI. बालिकालाई फकाएर पटक–पटक बलात्कार गरेको रहस्य सार्वजनिक भएपछि पाँचथरको नवमीडाँडा प्रहरी चौकीका प्रहरी सहायक निरीक्षक बलबहादुर ठटाल पक्राउ परेका छन् । १४ वर्षीया बालिकालाई बलात्कर गर्ने झापा भद्रपुरका ठटाललाई जिल्ला प्रहरी कार्यालयबाट गएको टोलीले पक्राउ गरेको हो । बालिका गर्भवति भएको परिवारले थाहा पाएपछि सोधपुछ गर्दा असई ठटालले बलात्कार गरेको रहस्य सार्वजनिक भएको हो । पीडितका आफन्तका अनुसार ठटालले बालिकालाई गएको पुसमा बलात्कार गरी ५ सय रुपैयाँ दिएर कसैलाई नभन्नु भनेका थिए । ठटालले बालिकालाई पटक–पटक बलात्कार गरेकोसमेत आफन्तले बताएका छन् । पक्राउ परेका ठटालमाथि अनुसन्धान भैरहेको पाँचथर प्रहरीले जनाएको छ । पीडित बालिकालाई महिला सेवा केन्द्रमा राखिएको प्रहरी प्रवक्ता विज्ञान बस्नेतले बताउनुभयो ।
