Students organisations took out a demonstration in Hetauda, Makwanpur, on Thursday, demanding the town should be designated the capital of Province 3. The rally follows the tabling of a proposal at the Province Assembly Secretariat on Wednesday, calling for declaring Kavre district as the capital. Hetauda is currently the temporary capital of Province 3, and the people there have been demanding for permanent capital status. The proposal, tabled by four assembly members from Kavre, to switch the capital has renewed fresh protest in Hetauda. The agitating students have said there is no suitable place other than Hetauda to base the province headquarters. Umesh Puri, the president of Free Student Union, Hetauda Campus, warned of intensifying their protest if their demand is disregarded.
