At least 12 people, including seven police personnel, were injured in a clash between agitating non-teaching staff and the police at Pokhara-based Manipal Teaching Hospital on Monday. Police briefly detained 20 protesters. The non-teaching employees of pharmacy, housekeeping, transportation, kitchen, electricity and equipment maintenance and staff nurses at the hospital are protesting for the past six months demanding implementation of the agreement on salary increment, holidays and permanent status, among others. Affiliated to trade unions close to CPN-UML, Nepali Congress and CPN (Maoist Centre), they had been staging a sit-in protest in front of the hospital administration for the past nine days, until security personnel intervened on Monday. The agitating hospital employees accused the police of using excessive force to quell their peaceful protest. Ramesh Bohara, the coordinator of the protest, claimed that BS Nagpal, the hospital dean, and Bhanu Bhardwoj, the chief of Human Resources Department, had called police to suppress their protest. He demanded resignation of Nagpal and Bhardwoj. Police said they were compelled to intervene as the protesters attempted to disrupt the hospital operation. Superintendent of Police Ashok Singh said 20 protesters, who were arrested for vandalism, were released in the evening. The hospital management and the agitating side are scheduled to hold talks on Tuesday to resolve the dispute. पोखराको मणिपाल शिक्षण अस्पतालमा अस्पतालका आन्दोलनरत कर्मचारी र प्रहरीबीच झडप हुँदा १० जना घाइते भएका छन्। झडप हुँदा सात जना प्रहरी र ३ जना कर्मचारी घाइते भएका छन्। कर्मचारीले प्रहरीमाथि ढुंगामुढा प्रहार गरी अस्पतालमा तोडफोड गरेको आरोपमा २० आन्दोलनकारीलाई प्रहरीले पक्राउ गरेको कास्कीका प्रहरी प्रमुख एसपी अशोक सिंहले बताए। उनले घाइते प्रहरीको पोखराको फिस्टेल अस्पतालमा उपचार भइरहेको जानकारी दिए। आन्दोलनकारीको प्रहारबाट अस्पताल दोस्रो तल्लामा रहको सिसा, डिनको कार्यालयमा तोडफोड भएको सिंहले बताए। कर्मचारी ६ महिनायता तलब वृद्धि, बिदा, स्थायी गर्नुपर्ने लगायत विगतमा भएका सम्झौता कार्यान्वयनको माग गर्दै आन्दोलन गदै आएका थिए। उनीहरू अस्पताल प्रशासन अगाडि धर्नासमेत दिँदै आएका थिए। प्रहरीले धर्नामा हस्तक्षेप गरेको आन्दोलनकारीले बताउँदै आएका छन् भने प्रहरीले स्वास्थ्य जस्तो संवेदनशील क्षेत्रमा अवरोध पुर्‍याउन खोजेको आरोप लगाएको छ। घाइते हुनेमा प्रहरी जवानहरू, बिपीन थापा मगर ,गोविन्द राज कोटी,गमबहादुर थापा, रुपलाल थापा, यमुना राज कोटी, अञ्जना घर्ती र तुलसा पोख्रेल रहेका छन्। कर्मचारीतर्फ राजबहादुर घर्ती कर्णबहादुर के.सी. र अमर गुरुङ लगायत रहेका छन्। उनीहरूलाई घाँटी तथा टाउकोमा चोट लागेको छ। तलबको १० प्रतिशत घरभाडा बापतको सुविधा दिनुपर्ने, खटिएका इञ्चार्जहरूलाई इञ्चार्जको छुट्टै भत्ता उपलब्ध गराउनुपर्ने, सञ्चित बिदाको १ सय ८० दिन (पुरै) बिदा पाउनुपर्ने, अस्थायी र करारमा लामो समयदेखि कार्यरत कर्मचारीलाई स्थायी गराउनुपर्ने लगायतका माग कर्मचारीले राखेका छन्। प्रहरीले कर्मचारी युनियन मणिपालका अध्यक्ष नवराज भण्डारी सहितको २० जनाको टोलीलाई पक्राउ गरेर जिल्ला प्रहरी कार्यालयमा राखेको छ ।
