Locals of Shailyashikhar-1 staged a hunger strike at Chameliya Hydel project on March 8 demanding the Hydel project to fulfill the commitments made to the local community during its establishment. The demands include permanent solution to the drinking water resource and irrigation facility that dried up due to the project,Free supply of electricity to the residents of Shailyashikhar,Marma and Dhilashaini who were displaced due to the project,declaring Darchula and Baitadi loadshedding free districts. आफ्ना माग पुरा नभएको भन्दै शैल्यशिखर नगरपालिका-१ बारिलका स्थानीय चमेलिया जलविद्युतको विद्युत गृहनजिक आमरण अनशनमा बसेका छन् ।चमेलिया जलविद्युत आयोजनाले निर्माण कार्य शुरु गरेदेखि नै आफुहरुसंग गरेका प्रतिबद्दता पूरा नगरेको भन्दै उनीहरु आमरण अनशनमा बसेका हुन्।सो ठाउँका स्थानीय खानेपानी मूल संघर्ष समिति गठन गरेर आमरण अनशनमा बसेका हुन्।संघर्ष समिति ले आयोजना निर्माणका क्रममा सुकेका खानेपानी र सिंचाइको स्थानीय र दिर्घकालिन समाधान गर्नुपर्ने,आयोजनाबाट प्रत्यक्ष रूपमा विस्थापित शैल्यशिखर नगरपालिका,मार्मा गाउँपालिका र बैतडीको डिलाशैनी गाउँपालिकाभरिमा निःशुल्क विद्युत व्यवस्था गर्नुपर्ने,चालु आर्थिक वर्षभित्र दार्चुला र बैतडी जिल्लालाई विद्युत भार कटौती मुक्त जिल्ला घोषणा गर्नुपर्ने माग राखेको छ।
