Demanding implementation of the Education Directives 2015, student unions affiliated with all major parties encricled the Department of Education (DoE) on Wednesday. The Education Directives 2015 states that private schools should take consent of the guardians before hiking the tuition fees. However, most of the private schools are found to have increased the tuition fees by ignoring the directives. Private schools have increased the tuition fees by up to 30 percent and charged up to Rs 200,000 as admission fees for the new academic session which started from April 14. Also, the private schools have charged readmission fees against the rules. There are about 6,000 private (institutional) schools across the country. The student unions said their members and supporters staged protest at the DoE on Wednesday against the fee hike and illegal collection of readmission fees by private schools. There was a kind of scuffle between demonstrators and government officials as the student unions blocked the entrance off the DoE at around 10 am. The student unions include All Nepal National Free Student Union (ANNFSU), affiliated to CPN-UML, Nepal Student Union (NSU), affiliated to Nepali Congress and All Nepal National Independent Student Union-Revolutionary (ANNISU-R), and affiliated to CPN (Maoist Center). If the government does not address our demands immediately, we will call an education strike, said Pushpa Kumar Shahi, vice president of the NSU. "We are planning to stage sit-in at the offices of local bodies on April 27," he added. The student unions had earlier demanded that the ninth amendment to the Education Act (2017) be scrapped arguing that the amendment aimed to hire 'incompetent' teachers in the teaching system. निजी विद्यालयले गरेको चर्को शुल्कवृद्धिको विरोधमा आन्दोलनरत विद्यार्थी संगठनहरुले बुधबार शिक्षा विभागको कार्यालय अगाडि प्रदर्शन गरेका छन् । प्रदर्शन कार्यक्रमलाई सम्बोधन गर्दै विद्यार्थी नेताहरुले अविलम्ब शुल्क नघटाए राष्ट्रव्यापी शैक्षिक हड्ताल गर्ने चेतावनी दिए । भक्तपुरको सानोठिमीस्थित विभागको कार्यालयमा १० बज्नुअघि नै पुगेका विद्यार्थीहरुले विभागका कर्मचारी प्रवेशमा रोक लगाएका थिए । त्यसक्रममा केहीबेर घम्साघम्सीसमेत भएको थियोे । प्रदर्शनमा अनेरास्ववियुका कार्यवाहक अध्यक्ष महेश बर्तौला, नेविसंघ उपाध्यक्ष पुष्प शाही, अखिल क्रान्तिकारीका उपाध्यक्ष सुरेन्द्र बस्नेत, अखिल छैठौंका अध्यक्ष विमल पोखरेल र नेक्राविसंका अध्यक्ष निरज लवजुसहित विद्यार्थीहरु सहभागी थिए । कार्यक्रमलाई सम्वोधन गर्दै नेताहरुले अविलम्ब शुल्क नघटाए शैक्षिक हड्ताल गर्ने चेतावनी दिए । शिक्षा विभाग आफैले जारी गरेको संस्थागत विद्यालय शुल्क मापदण्ड निर्देशिका २०७२ को कार्यान्वयनमा जोड दिएका थिए । शुल्कवृद्धि विरुद्ध आन्दोलनरत विद्यार्थी संगठनहरुले आगामी १४ गते देशभरका स्थानीय तहको कार्यालय घेराउ गर्ने कार्यक्रम तय गरेका अखिल क्रान्तिकारीका उपाध्यक्ष सुरेन्द्र बस्नेतले जानकारी दिए ।
