Locals of Gaur in Rautahat have staged a protest against the perceived attempts of the land mafia to sell a strip of land belonging to a closed factory. the land originally belonging to Gaur Rice Mill had been used as public space ever since the mill shut down 49 years ago. But with the land mafia allegedly trying o sell the land. the locals have started a sit-in in front of the municipality office. Earlier, the government under Madhav Kumar Nepal had decided to expropriate six bigaha land plot and turn in into public land. But in the wake of the government decision to appropriate the land without paying any compensation, the land mafia had managed to get the government decision revoked by the supreme court on the basis of fake documents. Amidst the alleged attempts of the land mafia to sell the land plot by unduly influencing ward office representatives, ward chairman and the chairperson of federation o Nepali Journalist Rautahat chapter, local leaders including NCP(NCP) youth leaders Shambhu Sah started a sit-in yesterday. A struggle committee has also been formed to launch the protest. NCP(NCP) leader Sah condemned the attempt to see public land. In fact, the ones in this bid to sell public land are the foes of all. said Sah, who has staged a sit-in. the protesters have also sent memorandums to the provincial chief minister Chief district officer and mayor seeking the protection for the playground. Meanwhile, Gaur municipality Mayor Ajaya Gupta said the process of acquiring the land is going on. We're managing the fund to acquire the land, as we are planning to make a stadium there, he said dismissing claims that land mafia are up to selling the land plot for millions. Anyone who comes seeking compensation on valid documents will get it, he said. वर्षौदेखि सार्वजनिक स्थलका रुपमा प्रयोग गरिरहेको जग्गामा भूमाफियाले आँखा लगाएपछि रौतहटका स्थानीयबासी आक्रोशित बनेका छन् । सदरमुकाम गौरको मध्य भागमा रहेको गौर राइस मिलको सार्वजनिक जग्गा विक्री गर्ने उदेश्यका साथ भूमाफियाहरु सक्रिय भएपछि स्थानियले विरोध गरेका हुन् । गौर राइस मिल २०२६ सालमा बन्द भएपछि झण्डै ६ बिघा जग्गा हत्याउन चलखेल भइरहेको छ । तत्कालिन प्रधानमन्त्री माधवकुमार नेपालले २०६६/१२/२९ मा मन्त्रिपरिषदबाटै जग्गा अधिग्रहण गर्ने निर्णय गराएका पनि थिए । तर, सर्वोच्च अदालतबाट निर्णय बदर भयो । त्यसपछि गौर नगरपालिकाले जग्गा अधिग्रहणको प्रक्रिया अगाडि बढाएको थियो । २०७१ अषाढ ३० गते गौर नगरपालिकाका तत्कालीन कार्यकारी अधिकृत र प्रमुख जिल्ला अधिकारीको पहलमा जग्गा नापजाच गरी ५ बिघा १९ कठ्ठा १५ धुर जग्गाको मूल्यांकन रजिष्ट्रेशन दस्तुर समेत गरी १४ करोड ७ लाख ९७ हजार निकासा गर्न संघीय मामिला तथा स्थानीय विकास मन्त्रालयलाई पत्राचार समेत गरेको थियो । तर, अहिले फेरि जग्गा किनबेेचको प्रयास सुरु भएको छ । यसका लागि स्थानीयबासी र राजनीतिक दलका नेताहरुलाई समेत प्रभावमा पार्ने प्रयास भइरहेको छ । जिल्ला क्रिकेट संघ तथा गौरका सचेत युवाहरुले भने संघर्ष समिति नै बनाएर विरोध गरेका छन् । संघर्ष समितिका सदस्यहरु खेल मैदान संरक्षण गर्न माग गर्दै गौर नगरपालिका कार्यालय अगाडि धर्नामा बसेका छन् । सार्वजनिक जग्गालाई विक्री गर्न खोज्नेहरु गौरको दुश्मन भएको नेकपाका युवा नेता शम्भू साहले बताए । गौर नगरपालिकाले भने जग्गा अधिग्रहणको प्रक्रियामा रहेको बताएको छ । अधिग्रहणका लागि मन्त्रालय र अन्य दातृ निकायबाट रकमको जोहो गर्ने काम भइरहेको मेयर अजय गुप्ताले बताए । जग्गालाई अधिग्रहण गरेर सुविधा सम्पन्न रंगशाला बनाउने योजना रहेको भन्दै उनले जग्गाधनिले प्रमाण पुर्‍याएर मुआब्जा माग्न आए दिन १५ करोड रुपैयाँ जोहो गर्न खोजिएको बताए ।
