NC organises protest rally against ‘arbitrary tax policy’

The main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) has organised a rally against arbitrary tax policy of Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City. Cadres of the NC took to the streets after the Sub-Metropolitan City raised 500 percent tax on house rent and parking from this year. The NC has demanded the Sub-Metropolitan City should only raise tax from 10 to 15 percent. The rally that started from Hospitalline passed through Haat Bazaar and converged into corner assembly in front of the office of Sub-Metropolitan City. The rally was organised under the coordination of NC Municipality Committee. Following the protest rally, Municipality President Khelraj Pandey handed over a memorandum to Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City Mayor Shiva Subedi, urging the latter to roll back the decision to hike all kind of taxes. Subedi also expressed his commitment to make all the policies and decisions of Municipality transparent, saying the development of Municipality is the development of all. President Pandey and Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry central member Surendra Prasad Shrestha had floated their views in the corner assembly.
