Eyeglasses sent to PM in symbolic protest

2018-09-24

Nepal Women Association, Khotang, today sent eyeglasses to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli after the government failed to find the culprit(s) in Nirmala Panta’s rape and murder case. The association sent the eyeglasses to the PM through Khotang Chief District Officer Surendra Raj Poudel demanding stern action against the culprit(s). Chairperson Ram Kumari Rai of the association said the glasses were sent to the PM as a symbolic protest against the government agencies’ failure to identify culprit(s). She added that the association had also sent a memorandum, along with the glasses to the PM. The association accused the government of protecting the culprit(s). “Police themselves were involved in destroying evidences,” Rai said. She said it had been almost two months, but the parents of Nirmala Panta were yet to get justice. “We won’t remain silent until the government finds the culprit(s),” she added.
