A woman was beaten in Mahottari in an allegation of being witch when the district was having various awareness programs on ending women violence.
Mantoriya Devi Mandal,38 of Dhanauji Rural Municipality was severely beaten by so called high class people on an allegation of being witch.
She was alleged of being witch by her brother-in-law Indal Mandal and she was told to pay Rs 50,000 to local “Panchas” and Rs 50,000 to organize feast as a punishment and penalty. She was beaten after she denied paying the penalized amount.
The victim has lodged complaint at Women and children service under District Police Office of Dhanusha demanding the justice.
