A person has been arrested from Madhyapur Thimi on alleged charge of marital rape. Ranjan Khadka, 41, was arrested after his wife lodged a complaint at police office, arguing that her husband had sexual intercourse without her consent.
Deputy Superintendent of Police, Milan KC, shared that Khadka was arrested by the Metropolitan Police Circle Thimi after his wife filed the complaint. Investigation has been initiated on it, he added.
DPM KC further said the woman had filed the complaint on January 20 that her husband Khadka raped her on January 18. Then her health was examined at the Maternity Hospital, Thapathali, and the husband arrested.
According to Superintendent of Police Himalaya KC, it is the second time a complaint on marital rape has been lodged in Bhaktapur. It may be noted that the new Civil Code of Nepal has established marital rape as a criminal offense.
