Locals of Shadananda Municipality have been struggling for the construction of the Lamsuwaghat a bridge over Arun river connecting Bhojpur-Sankhuwasabha for nearly nine years. Locals of Shadananda announced the protest program from February 12 to February 19 demanding the construction of a bridge.
According to the Coordinator of the group Dil Kumar Rai, the protest program includes picketing and locking of Shadananda Municipality, Non-cooperative behavior towards municipality, the prohibition of the mayor, sub-mayor and ward chairperson in the city area.
The locals were outraged, saying that the under-construction bridge which has obstructed the development of the northern area of District and due to that the locals are facing the problem of traveling.
Municipality Mayor Birbal Rai said that initiatives were being taken with the federal and state governments for the construction of the bridge and they were also coordinating with the union and state governments.
