Mahottari Police took into control a deceased woman's body from cremation ceremony suspecting that she might have been murdered by her family.

Police seized the body of 20-year-old Dhanmati Devi Mahato, wife of Manoj Kumar Mahato of Manarasiswa municipality-8 Sahasram while they were preparing to cremate her following a complaint from Dhanmati Devi's maternal family. Police sent the body to the district hospital in Jaleshwor for post-mortem.

According to Dhanmati devi's family, she committed suicide by hanging on February 10. Police, however, suspect foul play behind her death as injuries were observed on her neck and hands. Police have arrested the deceased's husband and his sister for investigation.
